Yippee! You’ve placed your order for your fabulous LulaKate dress and anxiously await for its arrival in the months to come. So what exactly happens in the meantime? Many may not know what all goes into making that made-to-order and made-in-America frock! We’ll give you the run down in picture form.
After we receive your order, we ensure we have your all of your dress components ready and waiting at our cutting room in Charleston, South Carolina. Look at all the pretty fabrics!
Your order is programmed and mapped out on our computer system, and it’s time to roll out the fabric and cut the pieces that make up the dress on our fancy, uber-industrial cutting table. Then it’s time to bundle the pieces of the individual dress(es) in the order to send off to our seamstresses in New York and Nashville for sewing! When we need to take a small breather, you can find us in our super plush Lula Lounge.
The orders are bundled and ready to ship off the sewing factory. Wait— don’t forget the zippers!
The dress pieces arrive to our factories then are sewn and made complete. Time for inspection! This one passes!
Then the order is shipped to the retailer from which the order was placed and is ready for its big debut! Did we mention this all happens in the good ol’ U-S-of-A? We’re pretty proud of that fact. Of course there are lots of little details in between that go into getting our customers their beautiful dresses, but this is the basic gist!

We’re off to the races in this week’s Wear it again feature! We placed our bets on the lovely Lacey of Bella Bridesmaid in Washington DC as she wasn’t horsing around with her choice of dress for the Kentucky Derby. The rain didn’t stop her from looking sassy and classy in her black and white striped Caroline dress. Paired with the perfect Derby hat and some peep toe heels, we think she placed first in her race to the fashionable finish line. Lookin’ good, Lacey! The season is rolling over towards longer, sunnier days, and so is our Ready-to-Wear Collection.
