Our glam and retro styled new lookbook 2017 is giving us all the heart eyes!

Putting together this lookbook has been amazing. Lots of hard work and care updating the styles, but always staying true to our “look” and vibe. Representing a young southern woman who is strong, independent, fun, and always glamorous, we are so thrilled with the outcome of shoot. Much in part to some incredible vendors, this “dream team” has gone above and beyond!

Lulakate Lookbook 2017

The darling and crazy talented Rachel Red captured our hearts along with these amazing images. The use of light and how it hits the shantung and faille fabric of our dresses was so exciting and she’s also just a dream to work with!

What bridesmaid look is complete without some amazing accessories to go with it? Our neighbor, Candy Shop Vintage gave us the most beautiful pieces to use for the shoot. From earrings to bracelets, we wish we could say we had a favorite, but every piece was gorgeous.

Our good friend Ashley Brook Perryman did an excellent job on hair and makeup. Every look was perfect for our vibe. Sweet, charming, and oh-so-glamorous.

The styling  of this veranda by Catherine M Austin Designs has us blown away. We love the tropical feels and we definitely didn’t want to leave the space. It fit in perfectly with our retro glam vibe.

This wallpaper is jaw dropping. From Julianne Taylor and called “Wallflower”, we couldn’t take our eyes off of it.

This painted wall behind our model is unbelievable. Hand painted by Aubrey Brackett Fine Finishes at the CSOL Designer Show House, we were thrilled to have it be part of our shoot. Simply exquisite!

A picture perfect setting for Anna and her darling Lulas in our Abby dresses!

The beautiful Anna chose our Abby dress for her bridesmaid’s dresses in Charcoal Shantung and they look phenomenal. We are so thrilled for Anna and her new husband and wish them many many years of married bliss!

The wedding was featured on Charleston’s Weddings’, The Wedding Row, and every gorgeous detail was featured by the oh-so-talented, Jennings King Photography. Scrolling through one beautiful photo after another, it was hard to pick a favorite. So here are few (or more) of our absolute favorite shots of Anna’s wedding.

Anna and her husband under this tree for their ceremony was nothing short of fantastic. The styling by A Charleston Bride was breathtaking and a true statement of her visual talent!

Oh, and we can’t forget those amazing florals by Stephanie Gibbs Events! A beautiful white collection of anemones and roses. We bet they smelled amazing!

Abby Dress In Charcoal at Lowndes Grove Plantation

These Lulas are gorgeous! We are so thrilled that Anna chose to have her girls in our Abby dress in Charcoal Shantung. The fit of these dresses fit every shape and they leave a stunning impression. Complete with pockets of course, these dresses accentuate the bride’s look while also giving bridesmaids many opportunities to wear her Abby dress after the wedding.

All in all, another huge congratulations to Anna and her husband! Wishing you all the best!

It was such a pleasure to see this beautiful shoot. From beginning to end, the sweetest details were all thought through with care and had such a whimsical spirit! All the gorgeous images captured by Hilleary Photography make us smile! The coloring and lighting was almost like a fairytale dream.

The details and planning were brought together by Beautiful Bride Events and were top notch as well. Even Elise Nuckols Art was there to hand paint the Kate McDonald hand painted McLeod gown. And let’s not forget about those amazingly pink and perfect florals! #allthehearteyes!

Madelyn Dress

Our Madelyn dress in Cement Shantung is certainly a favorite and we love the simplicity of the color with her ruffled collar. What we love most about the Madelyn paired next to the Kate McDonald McLeod, is how it still stands out next to that hand painted beauty yet allows the bridal gown to be a statement.

Our other favorite thing is that she has pockets. Of course.

The man behind the “Pod Save America” podcast, just got married and we spied a few Lulakates!

Jon Favreau of “Pod Save America” and Emily Black, an account executive at Sunshine Sachs, have tied the knot in a backyard wedding in Maine. Picturesque and serene, this gorgeous wedding had springy pops of color and darling details. And of course, the florals included pink and coral peonies and we are smitten!

The best part of this real wedding for us is the beautiful and stunning smiles everyone wore. But we did enjoy seeing our Harper, Cason, and Emily dresses in long Dahlia skirts. Bride Emily had her sister and best friend in sassy stripes for a little variety! Emily said in the original article here, that she realized how big and full the skirt of her gown was and wanted dresses to have a little volume as well. The pleats of our Dahlia skirts give just that.

How adorable is this?! Their pup, Leo, was there too. Right on top of the cake. Perfect.

These darling Lulakate bridesmaids in our Abby dresses are the bee’s knees!

There’s a lot of anticipation on the big day, and that definitely does not exclude your bridesmaids! Everyone getting ready together, hair, make up, helping each other zip up is all so fun and exciting. I know I’ve been one to snap a million pictures of the bride getting her hair and make up done, and it’s true that one of my favorite moments is the first look for all of your besties.

When the bride comes out, your girls are the first to see how you look in your wedding dress. There always seems to be hooping and hollering and yes, some “awww’s!” This was the case for the beautiful bride, Mary, who chose our Abby dresses in Cement Shantung. Lela and Lyla Photography captured all the fun for us and we are delighted they did!

Jordan and Her Lovely Bridesmaids

Look at those gorgeous smiles! We were so excited to get these images from bride, Jordan. She put her lovely bridesmaids in various Lulakates, but kept the same color among them. We probably have to say that the Merlot color is definitely one of our favorites! That deep color stands out and looks ah-mazing on all skin tones. Made in our Shantung fabric, these Lulas look lovely!

Simply Sisters Photography did an excellent job of capturing all those smiles and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We certainly loved how Jordan chose the different styles across her bridesmaids as it gives dimension and interest, and of course, was quite chic!

Jordan, we wish you and your beautiful bridesmaids much happiness in the years to come! You all looked so fantastic and we are so thankful you chose Lulakate for your big day!

Make your wedding truly unique with custom french lace strapless bridesmaid dresses.

Working with Heather to create these custom lace dresses for her bridesmaids was a true delight! The french lace on the bodice was elegant and classy and then perfectly complete with the navy tulle skirt bottom. With photography by Ashley Seawell, we are all able to see how gorgeous everything turned out! You must see the full feature on Ashley’s blog.

Heather also wore our big sister Kate McDonald Bridal’s Calhoun gown. It was customized to have a full skirt overlay with bridal buttons and a pretty bow. Our Dahlia skirts on these Lulas for bride Emily’s classic winter wedding in Chicago is giving us all the feels…

We were so excited to see these 8 beautiful bridesmaids in our Dahlia skirts in Black Shantung featured on Style Me Pretty and photographed by Tim Tab Studios in Chicago. A brilliant affair and classy to the T! The high neck bridal gown Emily wore from Aire Barcelona was also incredibly gorgeous on her. And her choice of putting her bridesmaids in our high waisted skirts and paired with white camis from Aritzia was a great take on bridesmaid style. Making this very classic wedding have a little modern twist. One last addition to provide for the weather; gorgeous pashminas from Mark & Graham to keep them warm!

Lulakate Dahlia Skirts In Black Shantung

This photo below reminds us of the calm before the storm, but a great storm of course! Don’t know what we’d do without our girls by our side. Having those best friends to support and encourage and just plain be yourself with is incomparable. We love this candid capture by Tim Tab Studios to remind us of those sweet little moments.

This is another ah-mazing photo that we are obsessed with! You may have heard us say this before, but we love seeing a shot of the bridesmaids getting a first look! You see the groomsmen get the first look and the dad too (tear jerker!), and of course we’re biased, but there is something about the bridesmaids first look too. As a bride, we’d love to have a pic like this to keep forever.

Taking place at the Chicago History Museum, Emily and Kyle’s wedding was breathtaking! Those high ceilings and the grandeur of the architecture and crisp white walls, (um, and that chandelier?!) were mesmerizing!

We definitely want to congratulate the happy couple, wishing you many years of love and laughter. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your big day!

Our big sister’s bride Arden, looked absolutely gorgeous in her custom Kate McDonald gown! Kind of a mix of two KMB styles, the dress was perfect for this graceful beauty. Arden actually placed this Heidi Elnora skirt on top of a Kate McDonald custom shortie. So for her reception, she was able to take of the ballgown skirt and have more freedom to dance!

Cinderollies Ballet Flats have got us like woot woot!

Not surprisingly, we adore this classy styled shoot brought together for Cinderollies Ballet Flats! We are positively smitten for these shoes! A perfect bridesmaid gift bridesmaids can roll up and put in their purse. They can even fit in some clutches! Soft and comfortable, these little foldable flats are perfect for the entire wedding day or even when the heels come off and it’s time to party.

We are beside ourselves excited to share with you a little of our styled shoot with Southern Savvy Events and photographer Cathy Durig. If ever there was a time to embrace our inner Golden Girls, this shoot definitely fits the bill. Blanche, Dorothy, Estelle, and Rose would be so proud.

Also excited to see that our Abby bridesmaid dress in white serves as our Bride’s LWD. Any of our Lulakate’s can be worn by the bride in white, (and of course in any color you like!) Our Lulakate Harper dress (in this amazing Forest green color), has completely inspired us to make one last stand before this summer weather leaves us. We decided to take a little adventure over to the idea of a tropical bridal brunch! Complete with palm details, hibiscus floral crowns, poppy pink lipstick (of course), and some tropical heels. This inspirational post also furthers the idea that you really can wear our Lulakate dresses for more than just one event.

And without further ado…

LULAKATE HARPER TROPICAL BRIDAL BRUNCH INSPIRATION

The fun that the Harper dress encompasses is evident with the short Dahlia style skirt. The pleating gives a fuller style as to allow for comfort and ease. And of course you can’t go wrong with a V neck and V back! Totally classic, classy, and yes, sassy!

Tropical Accessories:

We are 100% smitten with these hibiscus pink, gold, and turquoise earrings from BHLDN. And we know every Lula needs a bag to put all her essentials in. This bag we found on Etsy is perfect for this tropical vibe we have going. The shoes? Oh yes, palm details with a sturdy heel and ankle strap are totally giving us heart eyes.

During the brunch, before treats and drinks have been served, perhaps it would be fun to do a flower crown bar. Have all the necessary materials, hibiscus flowers, greenery, and floral tape and wire so the guests can make their own flower crowns.

Don’t Forget The Details:

When you think Tropical, you most likely immediately go to a vision of beaches and palm trees. In the case that you may not have any palms close by, head over to your local nursery and see if they happen to have some palm like plants. You can either place them in bright blue pots or use the leaves as placemats for your dinnerware. These paper cutouts featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper will give you plenty more inspiration. Definitely a DIY-er’s paper paradise!

Treats and Eats:

Now in terms of feeding your guests, it would always make sense for a tropical bridal brunch to have pineapples. Lots and lots of pineapples! This pineapple turned floral display is amazing and perfect for table centerpieces. Cut out the insides of juicy goodness and use with toothpicks for easy munching, and then fill with some tropical flowers. Voila! Another idea for this would be a watermelon. A perfect end of summer treat and you can use the watermelon too for a centerpiece.

If it’s a little warm outside, this idea of a pineapple as an ice-cream bowl could not be more up our alley. Yes please!

And the old-timey convertible beetle? Yah, we just love this picture and fits in great with our inspiration!

It’s no secret that we love love LOVE Kate Spade. The prep, the pep, the too-cute-to-boot style; we just can’t get enough. So naturally it would make sense for us to want to put together a little Kate Spade inspired style with one our Lulakates. The Kristyn dress is both classic and elegant. A dress where you really can do no wrong. And in terms of styling her, we always like to spice up a classic with some fun trendy touches, and that Kate Spade style works perfectly.

A few stripes here and there would serve a bridesmaid well. Keeps a little pizazz and also a little interest to the eye. And we for sure love the idea of these hot pink bridesmaid shoes! Add a little gold, a little sparkle, and a pink lip, and we are good to go!

If wanting a little more sophistication, perhaps have hair all the way up in a ballerina bun or classic updo. Keep eye makeup fresh and natural looking for this style, but go all out on the pink lip! That come hither color works anywhere from casual to black tie.

 
If you are also wanting to go full on Kate Spade, don’t forget to add polka dots into your style. Do black table linens and sprinkle white or gold dot confetti on them, or have your cake designer put polka dots on the cake.

A dusty blue with lavender and touches of blush make for not only showing off the Pantone colors of the year, but also a whimsical and charming wedding color palette that will last throughout time. For hair and makeup, we love the idea of a little shimmer on the eyelids and you can definitely do either a flower crown or a braid crown, or both!

Loving Minted’s watercolor/marble suite for your wedding stationery! Delicate and elegant, but still has a super fun feel that sets the tone for the wedding. We really love it paired with rose gold flatware too!

And we can’t forget both the bouquet and shoes! For shoes, ballet flats seem like an easy choice and these are great not only for dancing, but the color is a great neutral that you as a bridesmaid can wear again and again. The bouquet works too with ivory and blush roses, perhaps add a few lavender stems in there and you’re good to go!

Alright ladies, first things first. Pretty much everything for your wedding starts with the color scheme. With a few exceptions, a color scheme influences everything from what florals you choose, the vibe of your wedding, and of course, the bridesmaid dresses. One of our favorite things about the colors that we have for our LulaKate dresses are that they match with all these gorgeous florals!! Peonies and ranunculus are so full of life and charm, and we’d like to think our dresses are too! Having florals to match your bridesmaid dresses in the coral and pink color palette (and vice versa!) also ensure that the bride’s dress of stunning white will stand out and shine. You can’t look at the coral and pink color palette without feeling cheerful!

While keeping your bridesmaid makeup simple and natural, give it a little pop with a bold lip. Match your lips to your dress or interchange your lip color with other dresses if you’re choosing to mix and match your bridesmaids dress colors. Just make sure to keep it all in the same color scheme!

Bridesmaid hair can be up, down, all around for pretty much any lady in your bridal party, but we have to say these two hairstyles above, the top knot and a braided and messy chignon are among our favorites. A top knot to go more classic and preppy and the chignon to have a little more relaxed and yet stunning bridesmaid look. You can’t go wrong.

Diamonds are said to be a girl’s best friend but we are kind of smitten with these striped, pink, and pearl studs. They’re easy to wear, not heavy, and provide the perfect little accessory to go with your LulaKate dress. Classy and sassy!

Ah, shoes! How could we forget shoes!? OF COURSE we love these fabulous glittered slingback heels from Kate Spade. Completely doable as a bridesmaid shoe, and who wouldn’t wear these again? Kat Harris is a dream!! We love how she captured our Lula-girl vibe! A huge thank you to Hana Floral, as she made all of the floral bouquets for our darling bridesmaids. And how could we forget the amazing styling that brings it all together by Beth Chapman. What a treat it was to have this shoot in Watch Hill, Rhode Island at the Ocean House! And to think we almost got rained out!
